Recovers gold powder ready for melting preparation
This beginner gold recovery and refining system is designed to help users organize the core tools and chemicals commonly used in small-scale precious metal recovery workflows. The kit supports a complete refining process from material preparation and dissolution through testing, filtration, precipitation, drying, and melting preparation.
This kit is intended for responsible adult users with an understanding of chemical safety.
Safety Notice
This kit contains strong acids and reactive chemicals. Use only with proper ventilation, chemical-resistant gloves, eye protection, protective clothing, and appropriate lab-safe containers. Never work indoors without active chemical ventilation. Never inhale fumes. Keep all chemicals away from children, pets, flames, food, and household surfaces.
Users are responsible for understanding chemical safety, local laws, waste disposal requirements, and proper refining procedures before use.
Included Components and Uses
Nitric Acid 69.8%
Used during the dissolution stage in controlled refining workflows. Can produce dangerous fumes and react with incompatible materials.
Hydrochloric Acid 31%
Used with nitric acid in traditional aqua regia chemistry. Corrosive and fume-producing.
Borosilicate Beaker
Used as the main acid-resistant laboratory vessel. Do not use household glass, metal bowls, or food containers.
Magnetic Stirrer Hot Plate & PTFE Stir Bar
Provides controlled mixing during processing. Use heat only when appropriate and never leave unattended.
Stannous Chloride Gold Test Solution
Used to test whether dissolved gold is present in solution.
Vacuum Filter Flask, Buchner Funnel & Filter Papers
Used for filtration and separating solids from liquid solution during the refining process.
Urea / Sulfamic Acid
Used in some workflows to help control excess nitric activity before precipitation.
Sodium Metabisulfite
Used as the gold precipitant after solution preparation. When used correctly, dissolved gold may drop from solution as brown powder.
Ceramic Drying Dish
Used to hold recovered wet gold powder during drying.
Borax Flux
Used during melting preparation to help protect and clean the melt. Melting equipment is not included.
General Workflow Overview
This kit supports the major stages of beginner refining:
- Prepare appropriate gold-bearing material
- Dissolve material using proper chemical procedures
- Test for dissolved gold
- Filter the solution
- Prepare the solution for recovery
- Precipitate dissolved gold
- Collect and rinse recovered powder
- Dry the powder completely
- Prepare for melting with borax flux
Melting requires separate equipment, including a torch or furnace, crucible, mold, heat-resistant surface, and protective gear.
Important Notes
This kit does not include melting equipment, crucibles, molds, respirators, gloves, goggles, or neutralizing supplies.
Protective equipment is recommended and sold separately.
